Wednesday January 5, 2022 “Love, Love, Love” My Morning Jacket
Interesting always seems to be a vague way of defining anything but My Morning Jacket is an interesting band in that they bridge a variety of genres including rock, psychedelia, and folk with a little country thrown in. Founded in the late 90s in Louisville KY by lead singer and primary songwriter Jim James (Olliges), My Morning Jacket would release their first album The Tennessee Fire to little notice in the US but the band ironically found success in Europe.
Yeah, I know that smacks of ‘we’re huge in Denmark’ but it is a factual part of their story.
In one of the more colorful stories about arriving at the band's name, Jim James suggested in an interview that it came from “the monogram MMJ on a stripper's robe that was in an old weird bar.” True or not, it's one of the better explanations that we have encountered.
After a successful European tour the band released Z a 2005 album which garnered them a very favorable review in Rolling Stone, got them a performance on Saturday Night Live, a spot at the Bonnaroo Music Festival and tour gigs with artists like Bob Dylan, Foo Fighters and Wilco.
“Love Love, Love” comes from My Morning Jacket’s ninth album titled perhaps a bit unimaginatively, My Morning Jacket.
Stay safe and well…and lyrically doesn’t the chorus of ‘Love,Love, Love” feel a bit like The Beatles “...the love you take is equal to the love you make”. Either version of course is wonderful advice.
