Sunday January 2, 2022 “Searching for My Love” Robert Plant & Alison Karuss

Since it’s a new year with all the freshness that comes with new beginnings, it seems appropriate that we start that new year with some new music. So this week let’s spend some time with songs, new at least  to me, not necessarily by new artists but songs that have been recently released and maybe deserve a listen.

To ease our way into this let’s start offf with a new take by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on a sixties song “Searching for My Love”.   Who knew that Led Zeppelin rock god Robert Plant could move so easily and credibly back into the sixties with this lovely remake of a subtle but soulful tune or that his voice and the voice of Alison Krauss would blend so seamlessly and harmoniously.  This of course is not their first collaboration; they have a 2007 album Raising Sand.

You may recall that Plant had a post Zeppelin hit with another sixties classic ”Sea of Love” with The Honeydrippers way back in 1985.  It is interesting to see just how non-Led Zeppelin Plant’s musical choices have been post that group.

Today’s tune comes from the recent Robert Plant and Alison Krauss album Raise the Roof which contains several very similar retro or derivative songs.

Originally recorded in 1966 by songwriter Bobby Moore with his Rythm Aces, “Searching for My Love” was a top ten hit back then.

Stay safe and well…and if we were to take something away from this change that Robert Plant has made from his Led Zeppelin days it is that you are never too old to become the person you always wanted to be.

Searchin', searchin' for my baby, yes I am

Searchin', searchin' for my baby, yes I am

 Searchin', searchin' for my baby

I'm searchin', searchin' for my love

I'm searchin' for the one I adore

If I find her you know I will

I'll never, never let her go no, no, no, no

No, no, no, no

I'll never, never let her go, now, baby

I love you, I need you

I need you by my side

For my love, for my true love

I'll never, never never hide, now, baby, no, no, no, no

No, no, no, no

I'll never, never never hide, no no

 I wonder I wonder why

You had to leave me this way

I'm sorry, darling that I made you cry

Forgive me, love, for the things I've done to you

Come along, come along

Come along, give me one more try

 Searchin', baby

I'm searchin', searchin' for my love

I'm searchin' for the one I adore

And if I find her

I'll never, never let her go, no no

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

I'll never, never let her go

 [Repeat to Fade:]

(Searchin', searchin' for my baby)
