Monday December 20, 2021 ”Everythings Gonna Be Cool This Christmas” The Eels

With Christmas on the horizon let's get our jingle bells out, put on our Santa hats, light up the Christmas tree and get musically festive.

“Everything’s Gonna Be Cool This Christmas” might be an unfamiliar tune from a fringe/cult band, The Eels, a ‘band’ that combines a variety of off-kilter pop influences with deeply personal, sometimes dark lyrics, but this Christmas tune is an upbeat, fun, positive song.  Eels is the product of singer, songwriter, and musician Mark Oliver Everett (aka E).

Everett, as Eels has created thirteen albums, written a couple of soundtracks and unfortunately has experienced more tragedies in his life than is necessary to detail especially since it’s the holiday season, so let’s focus on this poppy song about hope, friendship and well, Christmas.

Stay safe and well...and this may initially seem like a frivolous holiday rock tune but it offers a message of change, friendship and hope...so add some ‘everything’s gonna be cool’ to your Christmas.

Remember last year when you were on your own

You swore the spirit couldn't be found

December rolled around and you were counting on it

To roll out

Well, everything's gonna be cool this christmas

Everything's gonna be cool this christmas

Everything's gonna be cool this christmas

Well everybody's lookin' for you down at the house

The tree is looking so inspired

There's a yuletide groove waitin' for you to move

I'll go and throw another log on the fire

Everything's gonna be cool this christmas

Everything's gonna be cool this christmas

Everything's gonna be cool this christmas

As days go by the more we need friends

And the harder they are to find

If I could have a friend like you all my life

Well I guess I'd be doin' just fine

Everything's gonna be cool this christmas

Everything's gonna be cool this christmas

Everything's gonna be cool this christmas
