Thursday January 14, 2021 “Wavelength” Van Morrison
Here we have Van Morrison’s take on radio.
According to Morrison he wrote “Wavelength” about the Voice of America which was his only radio access to music as a youth growing up in Northern Ireland. Morrison has famously written so many classic songs but began his career with the iconic song “Gloria” when he fronted the group Them. He then followed that with a solo album/CD that included “Brown Eyed Girl” which was originally written as brown skinned girl but changed for obvious reasons.
Van Morrison plays guitar, bass, saxophone, drums and harmonica in addition to writing a pretty good song. His band Them was signed to Decca Records by Dick Rowe who had famously rejected the Beatles but having learned his lesson Rowe then signed the Rolling Stones, the Moody Blues, the Tremeloes, the Zombies, Tom Jones, the Animals and Cat Stevens among others.
Morrison is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Irish Music Hall of Fame, has a Brit Award, two Grammys, has recorded thirty nine studio albums/CDs and has sold several truckloads of records.
Stay safe and well...and stay on your favorite DJs wavelength.
