Wednesday September 8, 2021 “Love Street“ The Doors
It was their first album, the eponymous Doors, that contained “Light My Fire” that would catapult them to fame. Oddly “Light My Fire” was written in its entirety by Doors guitarist Robbie Kreiger with only minor lyrical changes by lead singer Jim Morrison. However it was Jim Morrison’s outrageousness and celebrity that would make the Doors rock & roll legends.
So much has been written about Morrison but here are a couple of things that maybe you didn’t know about Jim: he had an IQ of 149; his favorite singer of all time was Frank Sinatra and when asked what he thought about the new Led Zeppelin album he said he never listened to them.
Jim Morrison’s grave at Pere Lachaise is the second most visited attraction in Paris after the Eiffel Tower; his family hoped he would follow in his navy Admiral father’s footsteps and join the navy but he insisted on going to college because according to Jim,”“I didn’t want to go into the army, and I didn’t want to work — and that's the damned truth.”
It is reported that after the deaths of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, Morrison told friends at a bar that, “You’re drinking with number three.” He would sadly be correct.
Jim Morrison died July 3, 1971, age 27.
Stay safe and well...and that is Pamela Courson, Morrison's longtime companion, featured in the video.
